Growing Up with Books: My Journey from Austin Libraries to Independent Bookstores

A Lifelong Love of Books, Libraries, and Local Bookstores

Austin Public Library - Howson Branch | Austin, TX | EV Station

As an avid reader, my love for books was nurtured early on by my mother, who instilled in me the joy of reading. Growing up in Tarrytown, Austin, I spent countless hours at the Howson Branch Library, a place that still holds a special place in my heart. I fondly remember the days when Holiday House was located in the Tarrytown Shopping Center; we'd grab French fries and head to the library—a delightful combination of comfort food and literature.

My reading interests are diverse, spanning historical fiction, mystery novels, and real estate books. This eclectic taste has led me to explore various independent bookstores, both locally and across the country. I firmly believe in supporting these community treasures that offer unique selections and personalized experiences.

Local Austin Bookstores I Cherish:

Independent Bookstores Across the U.S. I Support:

Supporting independent bookstores is more than just purchasing books; it's about fostering community, encouraging diversity, and preserving the unique experiences these establishments offer. Whether you're in Austin or exploring other parts of the country, I encourage you to visit and support these literary havens.

Happy reading!
