Austin is home to the most private non-profit groups in one area. I am personally involved with various charities going back to my days as a social worker. However, now that I am selling real estate, I miss helping children and their families. One way I stay involved is by donating to various charities, and I let the professionals take it from there. My undergraduate studies were in elementary education. Right now, I love giving to Donors Choose, where teachers and educators from across the country request much-needed materials for their students. You can narrow it down to a particular city if you want to donate to your community. Some of the most recent campaigns that I have helped fund are:
Learning Math With Dry Erase Markers and Pencils for the Texas School for the Deaf and Supplies at Harris Elementary. While completing my internship, I spent a semester at Harris Elementary in Austin, Texas, so this one is near and dear to my heart.
